You focus so much on beauty and maintain your beauty through
makeup or makeover. You do all possible efforts to look beautiful and
presentable but when you smile and your teeth appear yellow your all efforts
become useless. Your smile looks pretty when your teeth are shiny. White teeth
add confidence when you are among so many people or gathering. Tooth
discoloration is due to so many reasons; some of them are discussed below with
their remedies.
Drinks:
Carbonated drinks, coffee, soda all are the reasons of tooth
discoloration and tooth decay. Acidity of these drinks is the main reason. As
the acidity of the drinks increases the chances of tooth discoloration
increases. Too much consumption of citrus juices also has worse effects. The
high sugar content on these drinks is another reason of discoloration and tooth
decay. The high sugar content causes bacterial fermentation on your teeth. If
you want to save your teeth choose sugar free drinks as much as you can.
Dental hygiene:
Another cause of tooth discoloration is dental hygiene which
ignores a lot among children. Brushing teeth twice a day can reduce this
problem. Brush your teeth after lunch and dinner and before sleeping. At night
if you don’t brush your teeth bacteria formed from the food item eaten whole day
and which penetrate between your teeth and causes smell in your mouth and
discoloration of teeth proceeding to tooth decay.
Smoking:
Smoking reduces the saliva in your mouth which cleanses your
mouth and teeth. Nicotine and tar are the major ingredients of cigarette which
causes discoloration of teeth or stains on teeth which are then very difficult
to remove. Smoking is another leading cause of teeth loss. So quit smoking as
soon as possible to prevent from these disorders.
Drugs and medication:
Some of the medications and drugs cause your teeth
discoloration. This discoloration is of two types extrinsic or intrinsic.
Extrinsic discoloration is when tooth erupted in childhood and can be easily
removed by dental treatments. In contrast with extrinsic; intrinsic
discoloration they are mostly permanent and difficult to remove and interfere
with tooth formation.
Salt water:
Salt water is another cause of tooth discoloration. Whenever
you swim in salt water; better to close your mouth so that water will not enter
in your mouth and contact with your teeth. Salt water also reduces the saliva in
your mouth, making it dry and increases bacterial fermentation.
Toffees, chocolates and sauces:
Toffees and chocolate also contain high sugar content and they
stick in your teeth causes tooth decay and discoloration by bacterial
fermentation. Thick sauces also have the same effects, darker the color of
sauce; darker the stain would be. So better to limit all these things in your
diet.
Excess fluoride intake:
Ingestion of excess of fluoride is the leading causes and the
major risk factor of tooth discoloration. Excess of fluoride cause white spots
leading to black and brown stains in teeth. Fluoride is present mostly in
toothpaste so better to be careful while brushing your teeth makes sure that
toothpaste is not ingested by you.
